Idle speed control motor

The idle air control valve — also known as the idle speed control valve — regulates the idle speed of your engine. The valve or motor is controlled by the engine control module, which will adjust the idle speed according to parameters such as engine temperature and electrical system load. It takes control of engine rotational speed only when your foot is off the accelerator.

It is controlled by the computer and idle speed is determined by engine temperature. An idle speed control motor maintains proper engine idle by mechanically opening and closing the throttle as commanded by the engine control module. In this video I show you an easy way to check an idle air control valve. AutoZone carries hundreds of thousands of parts and accessories.

Select your Year, Make, Model and Engine to find those that fit your vehicle. This procedure is the same for any fuel. The first place we’d normally look for is the idle speed control system. You did the right thing by checking the throttle body and idle air control valve. We know our parts and products.

The valve helps counter anything the driver may do to put extra load on the engine, such as turn on the air conditioning, sound systems, lights, etc. The automatic idle speed motor is common to most fuel injected vehicles. It is a small electric motor , controlled by the engine computer, which lets a measured about of air into the engine at idle (when the driver’s foot is not on the gas pedal), thereby controlling the idle speed.

Car polish is very similar to what is called rubbing compound , and is used to maintain or restore the finish on an automobile.

Sometimes terms polish and wax are used interchangeably, but they are different. Wax on the surface can cause the compound to cut unevenly, so first remove all wax by sweeping the surface in one direction — not back and forth — with rags saturated with dewax solvent or toluene. Paraffin wax , colourless or white, somewhat translucent, hard wax consisting of a mixture of solid straight-chain hydrocarbons ranging in melting point from about 48° to 66° C (120° to 150° F). Polishing compound is less abrasive than rubbing compound , making it better suited for pre- wax treatment. Use a damp microfiber cloth to rub the polishing compound lightly over the entirety of the car and then another microfiber cloth to remove the compound.

Oil leaking from oil pan

Once the gasket fails due to age, or cracking, oil will leak out onto the exhaust pipe, if the source of the leak happens to be directly above. In this case, the drain plug may have been over-tightene causing damage to the oil pan.

oil leaking from oil pan

It is not uncommon for the oil pan gasket to wear out and start leaking oil. The oil pan gasket seals the oil pan to the bottom of the engine. When a gasket is damage oil will leak out, past the gasket, and on to the ground. It serves as a reservoir which stores the oil as it circulates through the passages of the engine and flows through the components. In between the engine block and the oil pan is something called an oil pan gasket.

Repairing a leaking oil pan is the best way to rid yourself of excess oil costs and tacky-looking oil spills everywhere you park. The process of repairing an oil leak can be a matter of a simple gasket change, or could require the replacement of the entire oil pan. The leak could be coming from most anywhere.

The wind is tremendous under the car when you are driving it down the freeway, and will blow any oil leaking all over the place. Stripping the threads in the pan can cause the oil to leak out around the bolt.

Secondary fuel tank

Used under steel tanks, pillow tanks, and other fuel storage units, these products are designed to temporarily hold fuel in the event of a leak. Secondary Containment for Fuel Tanks is typically a requirement for any location that is storing, transferring or handling fuel. EPA inspector in reviewing secondary containment requirements and impracticability determinations are also discussed. The remainder of this chapter is organized as follows. SP rules general secondary containment.

These secondary containment tanks are also commonly used to house vertical, horizontal, or cone bottom tanks within them. In case of primary tank failure, the secondary containment tank capacity should be greater than that of the primary tank. In this way, the containment tank serves as a barrier between the interior tank and the outside world.
