Clean sludge from engine

If sludge was really your problem there are products you can buy and use to remove sludge form your engine. You drain a little oil, pour this stuff in, idle the engine for a few minutes, and do a complete oil change. The simplest solution here is to use a chemical engine sludge remover. There are some sources that don’t really like them, but they are the easiest way to get rid of engine sludge.


They are typically added to the old oil, then you idle the engine for 5-minutes without driving it. It doesn’t sound pleasing, right? With the presence of engine sludge, the oil will be unable to lubricate and cool the engine.


If you found large amounts of engine sludge while completing the above tests, it is probably a good idea to seek professional help to clean your engine. BEST way to remove engine sludge (prevent low pressure). One of the biggest culprits that causes low oil pressure is engine sludge.

If you want to clean out the engine , buy a bunch of conventional oil and SeaFoam. Oils from paraffin-based crude are loaded with wax and create engine sludge. Paraffin base stocks cause sludge.


Without proper cleaning, this accumulation can damage cam shaft bearings, crank shaft bearings and lifters. It can also block the oil galleries, restricting oil access to the vital parts of your engine. The reason being is that it cleans your crankcase by loosening sludge and build up. Then all that sludge and buildup is now free in your oil and traveling throughout your engine.

You can get ounces of this product for less than bucks, and it works to clean your engine quite efficiently.


It depends upon how bad the sludge is. Or it’ll kill your engine ! Sludge is a gooey, tarlike deposit that reduces or shuts off oil circulation and can mean thousands of dollars to repair or replace an engine that has seized. So, As the lubricating properties are diminishe they are less able to clean the engine. Be sure to clean your engine somewhere you can collect the wastewater and dispose of it properly. He said you could eat off the inside of the oil pan. Sometimes sludge holds your engine back, and sometimes it holds it together. Motor oil sludge first develops on the top of the engine , the valve cover section, and in the oil pan. Next, it blocks the oil screen siphon and stops oil from circulating in the engine leading to more damage with every stroke. And I got the heads redone and all that good stuff. But inside of the valve covers it was so much sludge in the compartment, it was pitiful.


But I got the heads clean when the reworked the heads. Most of the sludge would be removed in one fell swoop. Then when you have the heads and oil pan off, inspect and clean as necessary.


The real question here is…IS it worth it to try and clean out and or revive this engine ? The sludge you see is simply a byproduct of abuse and neglect…this neglect has already taken its toll on the friction surfaces in the engine. They did everything that was recommend to clean the engine of the sludge build up and replaced parts that couldn’t be cleaned. The vehicle was in the shop for days.
